21st BIRTHDAY REUNION CELEBRATIONS

The Queenscliffe Lighthouse Theatre Group went down memory lane in a happy celebration of our 21st birthday in August.

Past and present members gathered at Queenscliff Uniting Church Hall to reminisce about the 35 shows put on by the company, and the many friendships and fun shared.

Special guests on the night were two of the original members – Norma Addison and Ellen Burke.

Norma did a fantastic job putting together the photo boards on display, featuring
QLTG shows from 2001 to 2013.

The entertainment included songs from alumnni David Golightly, Dan Eastwood and Nicole Hickman, Peter, Paul and Marion, Edwina Royce, Stewart Firth and Ian Rogulski, Carol Fogg and Lisa Hearnden-Jones.

MC was the delightful Ian Rooney, who constantly teased QLTG secretary Lyn
Houldcroft with his puns but got a run for his money from former stage “wife” Emma Jones.

Former president Ian Royce was greatly chuffed to be awarded a life membership.

QLTG president Terry Fogg said: “I want to give special thanks to all the past
members, some who are no longer with us - musicians, actors, singers, dancers,
stage managers, crew, committee, sponsors and audience - who have supported
QLTG over the past 21 years. We also thank the Queenscliff Uniting Church and Queenscliff RSL for their continued support.

"Here's to another 21 years!"

Check out more photos on our facebook page!

Were you at the 21st birthday reunion? Do you have any photos of the event? Especially members of the audience! Send them to qltg.theatre@gmail.com and we'll put them on display (and keep for posterity!)

Cinderella fun for families this July

Book now for 4 to 9 July 2022, two shows daily!

The Queenscliffe Lighthouse Theatre Group holiday show Cinderella is going ahead - six months after originally planned.

It will be staged from Monday 4 July to Saturday 9 July at Queenscliff Uniting Church Hall, corner Stokes Street and Hesse Street, Queenscliff. There are two shows daily, at 10.30am and 1.30pm, as well as an evening show on Friday 8 July at 7.30pm.

The theatre group had originally "bumped in" the Cinderella set and was about to open the show in January, when the show was postponed because of a spike in COVID-19 numbers.

Director Debbie Fraser said: "I'm delighted to say Cinders is back, and with two new cast members. We can promise a fun show for local families and visitors alike."

Tickets are $15 children and $20 adults, and are available via www.qltg.org.au or www.trybooking.com/BVSVY. Group bookings are available - see the trybooking site for details.

Victorian COVID-Safe requirements apply

Note: for the children, if you participated in our Cinderella colouring competition in January, you will be happy to know we will finally be drawing a winner! The prize is a family ticket to the show.

Celebrations postponed

But there's a party coming...

Due to the recent COVID restrictions and the unknown scenario moving forward, we have, with much regret, decided to cancel our August Gala performance to mark 20 years.

With this in mind, we will be throwing a BIG party next year to celebrate the wonderful achievement and people who have been a part of the QLTG over 21 years!

In the meantime, if you have any anecdotes or photos you would like to share, please send them along to us at qltg.theatre@gmail.com, as we are hoping to produce a small souvenir booklet to mark this milestone.

Please stay in touch and we will let you know what is happening closer to the date.

Vale Meg Gillian

It is with sadness that we advise of the passing of Meg Gillian on 22 July 2021.

Meg was a member of the Queenscliffe Lighthouse Theatre Group from our early days. Meg performed in many of our shows, both as a solo performer and as part of the ensemble.

She is probably best remembered for her rendition of Send In The Clowns.

In addition to her on stage contribution, Meg also served on the original QLTG committee when QLTG was established.

Our deepest condolences are extended to Meg’s family.

ALADDIN - January 13-19. Book now!

Aladdin
Presented by the Queenscliffe Lighthouse Theatre Group.

What do you do with an old dusty lamp? Polish it of course.

But what happens when a larger than life, magical Genie appears?

Mayhem and magic, with lots of laughs, singing and mischief.

A traditional pantomime where the lead character, Aladdin is played by a girl and we are delighted to introduce newcomer Millana Anello in that pivotal role.

Playing the “dame”, Widow Twankey is veteran actor, Ian Rooney, who brings a wealth of experience to this rather flamboyant character.

Joining them as the dark and mysterious stranger Abanazzar, is another professional actor and local identity Matthew King. Matthew last appeared as Captain Hook in the adventures of Peter Pan in 2018.

Sue Rawkins shows her versatility as both the Sorceress “Darkana”and the Empress.

Karina Whytcross plays Princess Baldroubador and others include Guy Wingrave as Wishy Washy, Jess Dolley as Typhoo the dancing panda as well as Colby McCallum & Georgia Archdall as Ping and Pong, River Madden as the Ring Genie, Matthew Tripodi, as the Genie of the Lamp, Emilia Kurak, as the Grand Wazier, Luke McKinnon, Georgia Slaymaker & Delanee Collins.

Aladdin has been adapted from the original tale by director Debbie Fraser and is set in China. This show promises to have something for the whole family.

Shows are twice daily at the Queenscliff Uniting Church Hall.
10.30am and 1.30pm from Monday 13th to Saturday 18th with an evening show on Friday 17th and one show on Sunday 19th at 1.30pm
